Logan Health awards Healthy Classrooms grants

Logan Health's Foundation and School-Based Services awarded $500 grants to 16 educators at Flathead Valley schools this October.

The Healthy Classrooms grant provides funding to local schools to aid in the creation or improvement of student-centered and staff-related healthy living initiatives.

“Healthy students and teachers create happy classrooms where more growth and learning can occur,” said Brittany Coburn, NP-C, Logan Health School-Based Health Center Program Director. “We love having the opportunity to work directly with teachers throughout Flathead Valley to fund their classroom dreams and create more learning adventures.”

The awarded grants will fund projects such as new athletic equipment for students and staff, in classroom hydroponic gardens, ukuleles for students to explore the joy of music, on-campus bike racks and tire pump station, nutrition education curriculum and in-class cooking demonstrations, portable under-desk exercise pedals, and educational field trips opportunities.

“Our educators are community heroes,” said Joe McClafferty, Logan Health Foundation President. “We’re proud to support our Valley’s schools and help them improve on healthy spaces or programs for their students and staff.”

• Creston School

• Cayuse Prairie School

• Columbia Falls Junior High

• Columbia Falls High School

• Deer Park Elementary School

• East Evergreen Elementary School

• Evergreen Junior High School

• Glacier Gateway Elementary

• Kila School

• Kalispell Public Schools

The Health Classrooms grants are awarded biannually with the first grants awarded in October and the second awarded in March. Currently, this grant program is available to educators within the Flathead Valley, with plans to extend its reach to other communities in the region.
