Ninepipes Museum hosts holiday event

Ninepipes Museum in Charlo is hosting a special holiday event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 26. Admission is half price.

Enjoy live Americana and folk music by The Late Bloomers, lively conversations, refreshments, a holiday sale featuring discounts on blankets and rugs, beads, scarves and shawls, jewelry, toys, and more in the gift shop. Bring non-perishable donations for the food drive for the Ronan Bread Basket.

A Holiday Bazaar will take place next door at the Ninepipes Lodge featuring local vendors and their handmade wares.

There will be two Book Chats during the event:

• “Sophie Morigeau: Free Trader, Free Woman, Nineteenth Century Indian Entrepreneur” — Steve Lozar and Salish and Kootenai College historians Bob Bigart and Joe McDonald will discuss this new biography by Canadian author Jean Barman with an afterword by Lozar, a museum board member, historian and great-great-grandnephew of Morigeau’s. He contributed an account of what his family told him about this remarkable woman. The book is for sale in the museum gift shop.

• “A Guide To Fort Connah, The Hudson’s Bay Company’s Last Outpost in America” Officers, Employees &Associates 1846-1871” Author Carolyn Corey of Four Winds Indian Trading Post will talk about her new publication, the history of the Fort Connah Trading Post, and the work she and the Fort Connah Restoration Society has done to preserve this important historic site.
