William M. 'Bill' Zizz, 73

William M. “Bill” Zizz, 73, of Kalispell, passed away on Oct. 12, 2022, at his home after a long battle with COPD, with his family by his side.

William was born on Oct. 13, 1948, in Shelton, Washington, to Zane and Eileen (Drake) Zizz.

Bill grew up in Eastern Washington. He attended Flathead Valley Community College and went on to Montana State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in soil science. Bill went on to work for the Ag Research Center in Havre. He then went on to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service until his retirement in 2004.

He spent four years in the Air Force. Bill married Linda Holcomb in Kalispell in 1969. They celebrated 53 years together.

Bill volunteered his time and knowledge to the Hunters Education Program for 25 years, and also was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at Christmastime for five years.

Bill loved to hunt, fish and spend time with family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children Michelle Zizz of Kalispell, Heather Wicks of Columbia Falls, and Christopher Zizz of Helena; siblings, Jim (Joan) Zizz of Colorado, David Zizz of Arizona, Carol Zizz and Anne Zizz, both of California; grandchildren, Zachary Zizz of Helena, Will Wicks of Columbia Falls, Ashley Myers (Andrew), Zoe Zizz of Forsyth, Montana, Ana Wicks and Emily Wicks, both of Columbia Falls, and one great-granddaughter, Marie Myers.

Family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
