Halloween happenings and hullabaloo in the Flathead

Bewitching activities abound around town this Halloween. Here’s a rundown of the fun and spooky trick-or-treating planned around the Flathead Valley. So there’s no reason you and your little ghouls and goblins should be left out in the dark … unless, of course, you want to be!

THURSDAY

Columbia Falls Toastmasters organization is having a Spooktacular open house from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. at Freedom Bank, 530 Ninth St. W., in Columbia Falls. Everyone is welcome to come in to listen to some scary tales conjured by members of the speaking group.

FRIDAY

Love Lives Here and Glacier Queer Alliance are throwing a community Halloween Party fundraiser starting at 9 p.m. at the Gateway Community Center, 1203 U.S. 2 E., Kalispell. There will be $5 drinks, snacks, a costume contest and spooky fun. The Gathering Place is on the northeast side of the Gateway Community Center.

SATURDAY

Deer Park School hosts its 2022 Halloween Spook-Tacular community event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school gym. Costumes are encouraged. There will be over 15 carnival games, a haunted house, face painting, photo booth, a craft corner and concessions. A pre-carved pumpkin contest will be held.

The Flathead County Sheriff Posse and the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce invite members of the community to its 2022 Halloween Trunk or Treat event from noon to 3 p.m. in the Evergreen K-Mart parking lot.

Businesses and local first responders will be on hand to hand out candy.

Over 2,500 kids attended last year’s event. Park in the designated parking area. There will be someone onsite to direct parking.

Bring water to keep hydrated.

​​The Glacier Range Riders professional baseball team is hosting its first trunk or treat from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Flathead Field on U.S. 93 North between Kalispell and Whitefish.

The Glacier Street Rod Association will have cars on display as Flathead Valley kids can safely Trick Or Treat from trunk to trunk.

Lone Pine State Park is hosting “Don’t Eat This” from 7 to 8 p.m. — its final “Creeptober” event during October.

Learn about the plants and fungi that you should steer clear of while looking for a bite to eat when you use the forest as your pantry.

The cost is free. (An $8 park entry fee applies to out-of-state vehicles.)

SUNDAY

Northridge Lutheran Church is hosting a parking lot trunk or treat beginning at 1 p.m. The church is located at 323 Northridge Drive in Kalispell.

Smith Valley Fire Department and Cafe Utopia are throwing a Halloween Bash from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Smith Valley Fire Department on U.S. 2 West, Kalispell.

There will be a costume contest, baked goods, silent auction, food truck, and a Haunted House that will feature Smitty the Smith Lake Swamp Monster.

Northwest Montana United Way invites families to a trunk or treat from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Gateway Community Center, 1203 U.S. 2 W. in Kalispell in the west parking lot.

The ElevatioN local car enthusiast group is sponsoring a Trunk or Treat at the Kalispell Center Mall.

This is a family-friendly event so bring out your ghouls, goblins and little monsters for some tricks and treats.

The event is from 7 to 10 p.m., or until the candy runs out.

MONDAY

The city of Whitefish hosts its third annual Trick or Treat Trail at Bakke Nature Reserve from noon to 2 p.m. This fun Halloween event is perfect for younger kids, ages 0 to 5. Little ones can show off their costumes as they meander around the trail, collecting treats at stations along the way. Kids who complete the fun fitness activities along the trail will be entered to win a Strider bike.

Downtown Whitefish invites families to its Trick-Or-Treat Street event starting at 3 p.m. Central Avenue becomes one big block party as downtown merchants hand out candy and treats to little goblins and ghouls and the Stumptown Studio turns into a spooky walk-through haunted house. This year's theme is "Creep Show Under the Big Top." All events are free.

Keller Williams Realty in Kalispell is hosting a Trunk or Treat from 3 to 6 p.m., rain or shine. Dress up the kiddos and bring them to show off their costumes as they make their way around the parking lot to collect candy from the decorated “trunks.”

Hot dogs and drinks for the kids will also be served.

RE/MAX River View invites trick or treaters to its office at 26 Village Loop in Kalispell from 3 to 6 p.m. where staff will be handing out full-sized candy bars.

A Trunk or Treat will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. behind the Lakeside Community Chapel on Adams Street across from the Lakeside Elementary School. Costumes are encouraged. All kids and families are welcome. Admission is free.

Bring the kiddos in their Halloween costumes to Electric Avenue in Bigfork for trick or treating in the Bigfork Village from 4 to 6 p.m. Other businesses not on Electric Avenue will set up their (trunk) spot at Lake Baked to hand out treats.

Faith Lutheran Church hosts a family-friendly trunk or treat from 4:45 to 6 p.m. There will be treats and activities for the children. The church is located at 405 Liberty St., Kalispell.

Kalispell First Church of the Nazarene is sponsoring an outdoor Trunk or Treat from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Snacks and warm beverages will be provided.

Come for a fun and safe place for families to enjoy some treats and show off their costumes. The church is located at 1295 Whitefish Stage Road.
