Children’s Playhouse holds auditions for ‘Annie Jr.’
The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades two through 12 to audition, Tuesday, Sept. 6, (the day after Labor Day) for the cast of the hit musical “Annie Jr.”
Set in New York in the ‘30s, Annie was left in an orphanage as a baby with a letter saying her parents would return for her one day — the thought of this keeps her going. Oliver Warbucks, the millionaire, offers to give an orphan a holiday in his grand home for Christmas, and Annie is chosen.
Annie is immediately loved by everyone, including Warbucks, who asks her if she would like to be adopted by him. When Annie tells him she is waiting to be reunited with her real mother and father, Warbucks then tries to help Annie find her parents by offering a reward.
Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts on from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 6 for second and third grades; 5-6:30 p.m. for fourth through seventh grades; and 6:30 to 8 p.m. for eighth through 12th grades.
The production calls for a large cast of around 40. It costs nothing to audition and there is a $50 participation fee if you are cast in the show. Prepare a 30-second monologue or short selection from another play, poem or book, (There will be several at the audition if you need one) and plan to learn and sing something at the audition. Materials will be available at the theater if needed. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be moving around the stage.
Help is also needed building sets, props, costumes, lights and sound. Parental and student assistance is welcome and several scholarships are available. To sign-up and for more information, call 406-837-4886, email bpct@bigforksummerplayhouse.com, or go to www.bigforksummerplayhouse.com
