BILLINGS – Hope McAtee scored twice to help the Columbia Falls Wildkats top the Lockwood Lions 4-2 Friday in a non-conference Class A soccer game.

“The team played a complete game, showed some real progress in our ability to possess the ball and progress to create chances,” Columbia Falls coach Thomas Clark said. “We had 29 shots on goal. Kennedy Krebs, the goalkeeper for Lockwood, played an incredible game and kept her team in it.”

Tayler Lingle started the scoring in the first half with her goal, assisted by Sydney Mann, in the 17th minute.

Both of McAtee’s goals were unassisted.

“Hope McAtee proved that she can take over a game with two big goals, and Mila Johns scored the first goal of her game in a really huge moment. I’m so proud of the entire team,” Clark said.

Keeper Zoey Byrd made 5 saves for the Wildkats, now 3-0.

LOCKWOOD – Seven players scored Friday for the Columbia Falls Wildcats, who swamped the Lockwood Lions 10-0 in a non-conference Class A game.

“We stuck to our brand of patterns, possession, and spirit,” Wildcats coach O’Brien Byrd said. “Another shutout win and we certainly scored more goals than the past few games. I think the Lockwood team showed fantastic fight and commitment, even as they faced such odds. They are a very young team and with that attitude and work rate, it won’t be long until they’ll be competing with the top teams in the east.”

Walt Nichols scored a hat trick and Finley Sundberg scored twice. Dale Blickhan scored once and had two assists.

Bryce Dunham made four saves for the 3-0 Wildcats.
