Alan W. Young, 74

| September 14, 2022 12:00 AM

With memories in his backpack and miles on his shoes, Alan W. Young passed away at home on the evening of Sept. 7, 2022.

Alan was born on Oct. 5, 1947, to Bill and Martha Young, joining his sister Mary Ann in Seattle. He spent his childhood years between Seattle and the family vacation home on Camano Island. Shortly after graduation from Ballard High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, supporting the Vietnam conflict. While stationed at McCord Air Force base, lifelong friendships were established. He was a true veteran.

Alan worked for Bayliner Marine and retired from The Boeing Airplane Company. He said “Boeing is the best job I ever had.”

Many of his family and friends benefited from his love of cooking and bread baking; though, Alan’s favorite hobby was to travel. His love of travel took him from national parks to passport required destinations.

Alan was Patti’s husband for 39 years and the father of three children. Treena of North Carolina, Matthew of Washington and Joshua (Tessa) Nebraska. He was one very proud Papa of Peyton and Sage of Nebraska.

He had a strong conviction that “family is everything.” We were fortunate to have him in our lives.

Friends are encouraged to visit the website www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolence for the family. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
