Wayne Moothart, 96

On Sunday, the 4th of September 2022, Wayne Moothart, 96, passed away. His passing was neither hard nor easy. It just was the end of a long journey that started June 3, 1926.

Wayne was born to Frank and Retta Moothart, in a land called Wenatchee, Washington. At a young age his family moved to Montana and made their home in the usual way. Wayne lived through the Depression, a time that lived within him for life.

Waynes’s life journey included living through World War II as a sailor in the Pacific Theater, the marriage to his soulmate, Elaine Moothart, a marriage that spanned 74 years, the birth of two children, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. He was a father, an uncle, and friend to nephews and nieces.

Wayne’s life included working on Hungry Horse Dam. He tried his hand at being a sawyer. But his heart was in driving truck, hauling logs. He took the good and the bad that went hand in hand with working in the timber industry. His love of being a driver showed in the boats, the motorcycles, snowmobiles, and four-wheeling he and Elaine did during their entire marriage together.

His consistency and willingness to share time with just about anyone he crossed paths with was his true gift. Wayne, in his quiet way, left some very big shoes to fill. He will be missed by all the family and friends he made in life.

He is survived by his son Boyd and wife Libby, daughter Susan, grandchildren Jason and wife Drena, Amanda and her husband Justin, great-grandchildren Seth, Jillian, Jaron and Ryker, and great-great-grandchild Harrison.
