Golden retriever gathering Saturday

The third annual Goldenstock golden retriever event and fundraiser takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Haymoon Resort, 1845 Hodgson Road, Whitefish.

The event features educational demonstrations, vendors, dog games and activities, all centered around golden retrievers.

Dogs must be vaccinated and on a leash. Bring lawn chairs.

A free shuttle will be available from the Midway Tavern on U.S. 93 North.

Proceeds benefit Golden Retriever Rescue of Montana.

Chili competition and wiener dog races Saturday

The Spinnaker Bar and Casino in Lakeside hosts its annual Beerfest, Chili Competition and Wiener Dog Races Saturday, Sept. 17.

Enjoy beer and chili tasting and the Fastest Wiener (Dachshund) Dog Competition, which benefits Flathead Shrine Club Transportation Fund.

Chili competitors must bring a $25 entry fee, two gallons of chili, serving utensils, table and any added sides or table decorations they wish.

Beerfest tasting and chili competitors’ set-up will begin at 3 p.m.

Dog owners must register their Dachshunds with a $5 fee no later than 5 p.m.

Admission is $20 to the beer and chili tasting; and $8 for chili-only tasting.

All profits support the Flathead Shrine Club’s abilities to get patients to the Shriners’ Hospital in Spokane for treatment where all children, under the age of 18, are treated free of charge, but they pay their own transportation to and from treatment.
