Speed limit reduced on Montana 82

Starting Monday, commuters driving Montana 82 between Bigfork and Somers will see a lower speed limit.

According to a Montana Department of Transportation press release, the MDT Commission in June approved lowering the speed limit from 70 mph to 60 mph.

New signs reflecting the lower speed limit are expected to be installed the week of Sept. 19, weather permitting.

Flathead County submitted a request for a speed limit study on Montana 82 between U.S. 93 and Montana 35. Concern about an increasing number of driveways and other intersections along the road was noted in the study request.
