Wildcats blank Pirates, 4-0

POLSON — Finley Sundberg scored two goals for the Columbia Falls Wildcats in a 4-0 win in Northern A soccer on Tuesday.

Sundberg scored both his goals in the second half, but assisted on Kai Golan’s goal in the 23rd minute. He is second in the state with 12 goals.

Also scoring for the Wildcats (7-0) was Dale Blickhan with an assist by Ethan Austin.

Goalkeeper Bryce Dunham made five saves in the shutout.

The Pirates fall to 1-6 overall.

POLSON — The Wildkats got back in the win column with a 5-0 road victory against the Polson Lady Pirates on Tuesday.

Hope McAtee scored twice and Josie Harris, Tayler Lingle and freshman Mila Johns all added goals.

“I am so proud of the team for how they performed tonight,” coach Thomas Clark said. “We have had a ton of success in our possession and how we’ve played this year, but we’ve struggled to consistently score goals, tonight the girls changed that.”

Harris notched two assists for the Wildkats (4-3 in Northern A).

“There were so many special performances out there — our attacking players Hope McAtee, Josie Harris, Sydney Mann and Tayler Lingle really stepped up,” Clark added. “I thought Mila Johns proved what kind of player she can be when she decides to attack, and the fact that she is just a freshman is absolutely crazy.”
