| September 22, 2022 12:00 AM

Master violinist Wai Mizutani will “conquer the impossible” when he performs several of the most difficult violin pieces in history, accompanied by the piano skills of Xiao Long Chen. The concert is Opus 9 of 12 in Mizutani’s The Lord of the Strings concert series and will take place Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Flathead High School auditorium.

The selections include 12 of top 20 most technically challenging classical pieces ever composed for violinists. Pieces include “Variations on God Saves the King, composed by Niccolo Paganini in 1829; as well as “Grand Caprice on Schubert's "Erlkönig" and “Variations on the Last Rose of Summer,” both by Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst who is widely considered one of Paganini’s greatest successors, plus much more. Some of the technical skills Mizutani will perform for the first time in concert will be the fingered 10th and double 10th techniques (which requires a 17-degree left hand stretch).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for seniors and students. Children under 10, veterans and active duty members of the military are admitted free.

Tickets may be purchased at the door, or call ahead to 406-212-9515, or purchase online at impactwsce.com
