LIBBY – Kai Golan scored three goals in three minutes to lift the Columbia Falls Wildcats to a 10-0 rout of host Libby on Friday.

“The opening 30 minutes was the most intensely focused we’ve seen this group,” Wildcats coach O’Brien Byrd said. “Our intensity has been super high all week.”

Golan has eight goals for the 8-0 overall, 4-0 in conference Wildcats, and added an assist on Finley Sundberg’s first goal.

Sundberg is second in the state in scoring with 14 goals. Dale Blickhan scored two goals as well, and Walt Nichols had two assists.

Next for the Wildcats is playing host to cross-county rival Whitefish, who Columbia Falls defeated 2-1 in the teams’ first meeting of the season.

“We can think of nothing else than hosting the Bulldogs Thursday of next week,” Byrd said. “We’ve been preparing for that second game against the Dogs this whole season. Any soccer fans in the Flathead Valley should come check out that matchup. It’s gotta be the highest level of soccer between these two teams that you’ll see anywhere in the state.”
