Frontier Conference: Braves alumnus Blake Counts scores twice in Orediggers win
DILLON — Montana Tech (3-1) picked up a 33-24 road victory over Montana Western (3-2). Blake Counts, who played his prep ball at Flathead High, rushed for 120 yards on 17 carries and tacked on two total touchdowns for Tech — one receiving and one on the ground. Orediggers quarterback Blake Thelen had three passing touchdowns to three different targets in the winning effort. The Bulldogs received a solid effort from another former Flathead Valley athlete with Colton McPhee of Columbia Falls finding the end zone late in the second half.
Carroll 26, Southern Oregon 14
HELENA — Carroll (3-1) held off a late flurry from Southern Oregon (1-3) to win 26-14 at home. Spencer Bergen hit two field goals and the Fighting Saints ground game tacked on two touchdowns to secure the victory over the Raiders. Former record-setting Bigfork Vikings back Cormac Benn was responsible for one of the rushing touchdowns when he found the end zone for a one yard touchdown to cap off a 12-play, 65-yard drive in the second quarter that made things 10-0 in Carroll’s favor. The Raiders responded with touchdowns in the third and fourth quarter to make things as close as 20-14, but Baxter Tuggle ripped off a 41-yard run with less than two minutes in the game to close out the victory for the Fighting Saints.
Rocky Mountain 56, MSU-Northern 0
BILLINGS — Quarterback George Tribble threw four first half touchdown passes as Rocky Mountain pummeled MSU-Northern 56-0 Saturday at Herb Klindt Field. Trae Henry was on the receiving end of two of those touchdown passes and finished the day with three catches for 82 yards. Rocky Mountain running back Zaire Wilcox added 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. The Battlin’ Bears (3-1) had a whopping 496 total yards of offense while their defense limited the Lights (0-4) to 20 total yards of offense. Former Columbia Falls Wildcat Lucas Thacker had seven tackles for the Lights and Glacier high alumnus JT Allen got some garbage time action at quarterback for the Bears, completing his only pass attempt for an eight yard gain and rushing for 15 yards on three attempts.
College of Idaho 41, Eastern Oregon 0
CALDWELL, Ida. — College of Idaho (4-0) stayed undefeated and Eastern Oregon (0-5) remained winless as the Yotes ran away from the Mounties 41-0. The Yotes rushed the ball 46 times for 280 yards paced by Allamar Alexander who had 145 yards rushing on 21 carries with three touchdowns and Hunter Gilbert who tacked on 93 yards on the ground on 12 totes. Yotes quarterback Andy Peters had two aerial touchdowns while going 13 of 24 through the air.
