Whitefish Oktoberfest nears grand finale weekend

| September 29, 2022 12:00 AM

Whitefish Oktoberfest is fast approaching its final weekend, featuring authentic German beer, food, music and dancing with the authentic Oktoberfest band Europa, along with Pech und Schwefel from the Austrian Alps. Saturday afternoon festival goers can enjoy the Bavarian Echoes, the Flathead’s own German orchestra.

Tickets are $8 — kids under 12 are admitted free with a parent — and are available at the Main Gate.

Enter one of Oktoberfest’s hourly audience participation contests, like log sawing, stein holding, keg hurling or chicken dancing. Kids Chicken Dance contests are held at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

The Hop Queen will be crowned tonight at 9 p.m. under the Bigtop.

On Saturday, the Men’s and Ladies Stein-Holding Grand Championships
get under way at 9 p.m. on the Main Stage. Winners will have a shot at a spot in next year’s Hofbrau Stein-Holding National Championships in New York City.

No pets are allowed at Oktoberfest and carpooling is encouraged. ATM machines will be available on the premises.
