Fifth Avenue WN between Railroad Street and Center Street will be closed for about two weeks in April while the Kalispell Water Department undertakes a water main relocation project.

The project is scheduled to begin on April 4, and is expected to be completed by April 21, according to a statement put out by the city.

The water main needs to be moved away from the sewer line to meet Montana Department of Environmental Quality standards, according to Public Works Department Director Susie Turner.

Turner pointed out that the area has already had lots of construction crew activity due to the development of the nearby Silos apartment complex redevelopment.

“Local and business traffic will be allowed between Railroad Street and Kalispell Center Mall access,” reads the statement. “We ask that travelers please not utilize Kalispell Center Mall parking lot as a through street due to private property.”

Turner said that the dates are subject to change depending on materials and weather, but that the project could also be finished before the projected date.
