Marcy A Mills, 70

| April 14, 2023 12:00 AM

We lost an amazing sister, aunt, mother and friend on April 1, 2023. Marcy Ann Mills was born in Kalispell on Dec. 5, 1952, to Andy and Marge (Gorton) Mills. Marcy grew up in Evergreen – an amazing place to spend a childhood. She graduated from Flathead High School in 1971. Classmates from Evergreen Elementary School and Flathead High School remain lifelong friends.

Marcy attended Montana State University and became a lifelong Bobcat fan. She received her degree in education, but after a brief stint of student teaching, decided spending her days with youngsters was not her life course. She went back to school and graduated (again) with a degree in construction engineering. Her career took her to Oklahoma, Arizona, Seattle and all over the state of Montana. She landed in Missoula and spent 21 years building homes for Edgell Building. Retirement brought her back to Kalispell, and a renewal of old high school friendships.

Marcy was an athlete – water skiing at 5 years old, on the Flathead ski team in high school, riding and showing horses, and a trip to the national softball finals. Golf – not so much.

Marcy is survived by her son Jim (Blair) Ivey in Dallas, Georgia; grandchildren Carolyn and Garrett Ivey; sister Andrea (Bill) Bailey; and her nieces Tara Bailey and partner Mikiel Dubin of Eugene, Oregon, and Maren and Jeff Schuman of Kalispell and their children Logan, Daytona, Andrew and Silas. She so loved all of those kiddos. She is also survived by her beloved Mr. Bean.

Marcy’s sphere of friends extends across the country. Whether from grade school, high school, college, softball, or work, every memory shared by her friends recalls her sense of humor, her quick wit and her ability to tell a story. She touched so many lives and will remain in our hearts. We miss your uplifting spirit, your humor, your laugh. Too well loved to be forgotten.

A celebration of Marcy’s life will be held July 29, 2023, at Bonelli’s Bistro in Kalispell at 2 p.m.

As a lover of all animals (especially all of her fur-babies) Marcy would love to have donations made to the Humane Society of Northwest Montana, 100 Adopt A Pet Way, Kalispell, MT 59901; humanesocietypets.com.
