No. 29290 NOTICE OF BUILDING RESERVE LEVY ELECTION  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Board of Trustees (the “Board”) of School District No. 58 (Olney-Bissell), Flathead County, Montana (the “District”), that an election of the registered voters of the District will be held by mail ballot election on May 2, 2023 for the purpose of voting on the question of whether the Board shall be authorized to impose a building reserve levy of 13 mills per year to raise approximately $53,053 per year for 15 years, for a total amount of approximately $795,795, for the purpose of providing funds to pay or secure a loan or a bond to finance the costs of improvements to the school campus, including installing a new septic system, replacing the existing school building roof cover, and clearing trees and excavation work on the school grounds to accommodate a modular unit to be acquired with funds currently available to the District, and, if proceeds are available, replacing exterior school doors and repairing some or all of the fencing around the school grounds, and related improvements and costs; and paying costs associated with such a loan or a bond. If this building reserve levy proposition passes, it is estimated that, using current assessed values of taxable property in the District, property taxes on a home with an assessed market value for tax purposes of $100,000 will increase by approximately $17.55 per year, on a home with an assessed market value for tax purposes of $200,000 will increase by approximately $35.10 per year, and on a home with an assessed market value for tax purposes of $300,000 will increase by approximately $52.65 per year.  The election will be conducted by the District Clerk solely by mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed to all eligible registered voters in the District on April 12, 2023, and must be returned by each voter either by mail or in person to the District Clerk’s Office, Olney-Bissell School, 5955 Farm to Market Road, Whitefish, MT 59937, during regular business hours Monday through Thursday (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), weekdays (exclusive of holidays), April 13, 2023 through May 1, 2023.  On Election Day, May 2, 2023, the only place for deposit of voted ballots will be the office of the District Clerk’s Office, Olney-Bissell School, 5955 Farm to Market Road, Whitefish, Montana, which will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. All ballots must be in the office of the District Clerk by 8:00 p.m. on May 2, 2023 in order to be counted. All ballots will be tabulated in accordance with Montana law with the preliminary results, if known, expected to be released after 8:00 p.m. that day.  A qualified voter who will be absent from the District during the time the election is being conducted may:  (a) vote in person in the office of the District Clerk as soon as the ballots are available and until 8:00 p.m. Election Day; or  (b) make a written request prior to noon on May 1, 2023, signed by the applicant and addressed to the office of the District Clerk requesting the ballot be mailed to an address other than that which appears on the registration records.  An elector may obtain a replacement ballot if his or her ballot is destroyed, spoiled, lost, or not received by the elector by filling out and mailing, emailing, or faxing back a completed  replacement ballot request form or by the elector by personally appearing at the office of the District Clerk’s Office, Olney-Bissell School, located at 5955 Farm to Market Road, Whitefish, Montana.  Ballots may be returned in person at the place of deposit listed above, or returned by mail. If returning by mail, please use the then-prevailing first-class-postage price or one Forever Stamp.
