Eddy Lou Benson, 93

Eddy Lou (Whipple) Benson, 93, of Kalispell, passed away July 29, 2023. She was born December 13, 1929, in Scobey, Montana, to Keith and Abnona (Fagan) Whipple, she joined a 2 year old sister, Dixie Lee.

She attended all twelve years of school in Scobey, Wolf Point and Glendive until November 1956 when they moved to Columbia Falls and were both employed by the Anaconda Aluminum Company. Palmer was offered a position with a new Anaconda Plant in Henderson, Kentucky, where he set up the safety program.

The couple returned to Montana in January 1976. After returning to the Flathead, Eddy was employed by Kalispell Regional Hospital where she was the manager of the data processing department for 17 years, she retired in 1993.

She was very active in the Order of Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Grand Matron of Montana 1988-1989 for the Centennial Session. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile and several other Masonic related organizations. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, an infant son, her parents and her sister Dixie Jensen-Morast.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday August 25, at Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A reception will follow at Woodland Park Pavillion.
