Live spoken word event features storytellers
Hear six inspiring stories from the Flathead residents who experienced or created them during the first event for the Flathead Story Concerts next week.
Story coaches and writing instructors Glenn and Barbara Schiffman are launching a new series of spoken word events in Flathead Valley beginning this month. The events follow a continuing education class they taught this spring at Flathead Valley Community College concluding with a live true story evening.
The first spoken word event is Aug. 15 at Sacred Waters Brewing Company in Kalispell. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the event runs from 6-8 p.m.
The stories are curated spoken word events, not open-mic. Stories are family-friendly, but are not kid stories. August's theme is “Nature and Nurture."
Storytellers for the evening are Bobbie Williams, Craig Thomas Naylor, Heidi Wolf, Katie Carey, Rebecca Ashcraft and RJ Young.
Stories have been preselected and curated by the Schiffmans. Several of the story tellers were students in the FVCC spring class.
This is a free event co-hosted by Sacred Waters. Flathead Story Concerts are also co-sponsored by Authors of the Flathead, The Bookshelf in Kalispell, and My Glacier Village plus Sacred Waters and other venues.
The next story concert event is Oct. 15 at Sacred Waters. The deadline for story submissions for the next event is Aug. 31.
There are no fees to submit true experience stories, flash fiction or poetry. For more information, visit https://FlatheadStoryConcerts.wootick.com
