Lillian Wallace, 99
Lillian Mae (Rice) Wallace passed away at her home in Spokane, Washington, on, July 19, 2023.
Lillian was born, Nov. 14, 1923, in Roundup, Montana, to Alfred and Myrrh Rice. Lillian was the oldest of 11 children, and her siblings described her as a true family matriarch.
She married James (Jim) Wallace on March 14, 1945. Lillian and Jim moved to the Flathead, settling in the town of Hungry Horse where Jim worked as a powerhouse operator at Hungry Horse Dam. In 1964, they relocated to Columbia Falls. Jim and Lillian enjoyed their retirement being winter snowbirds in Quartzite, Arizona, where they made friends from all over the country. Lillian found comfort in her faith in God; hymns were her all-time favorite music. Lillian taught her children to love people, to be kind, and to work hard.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, two brothers, Clyde and Clifford Rice, and four sisters, Alberta Dschaak, Helen Chercasen, Juanita Langley, and Elaine (Myrtle) Koepke. She is survived by her children, James Wallace (Barb) of Columbia Falls, Gayle Lawrence, and Jana Tucker of Spokane; five grandchildren, Mike Wallace (Susan) of Houston Texas, Beth Wallace of Kalispell, Sandy Mallis (Nick) of Covington, Washington, Zach Tucker (Lauren) of West Seattle, Washington, Jacob Tucker of Spokane, Washington; five great-grandchildren; brothers Herbert Rice, Harold Rice (Mary Jane), and sisters, Freda Hamblin, Vivian Day (Wayne), and numerous nieces and nephews.
