Law roundup: Carny allegedly threatens to stab youth’s hand
A youth reportedly trying to buy fair tickets, went to pass the money under the booth window to a carny with missing front teeth, when the man, who was talking to other people, said he would stab his hand and shoot his leg if he reached into the booth. A concerned parent called the Kalispell Police Department. Officers didn’t locate any other incident reports associated with ticket booth workers and advised the parent their son’s incident would be documented.
An elderly man with rocks in his hands was reportedly roaming an apartment building lobby in his boxers and was pounding and breaking things. The person calling in the report thought he might be locked out of his apartment. Officers were unable to locate the man.
Two women in hoodies were allegedly arguing and refusing to leave a location until security called the police, saying one of the women put her hand in her pocket as she walked up to them and they were concerned she was reaching for a gun.
A casino runner was reportedly taking care of a girl who looked to be a 9 or 10 after customers brought her in when they saw her become upset after she walked out of a gas station and didn’t see the adult she was with, saying her mom abandoned her. An officer spoke with a man who said he was a friend watching her for the day. The officer also contacted the girl’s mother who said she allowed him to take her to the fair and was aware they wouldn’t be back until later that night.
Columbia Falls Police Department received a report on a very windy day that wood chips were on fire in a playground located roughly 100 yards from an elementary school and it was uncertain what started it.
A man, who sounded intoxicated, called the police after they were repeatedly punched in the face after confronting another man about smoking meth and wanted to evict him. He said there was a pistol on a coffee table that is not in play but also wanted to clarify that he had a right to defend himself. The pistol was seized for safekeeping due to statements made on the scene and would be returned when the owner was sober.
In a follow-up call, the man, who was reportedly drinking hard liquor, became upset as the day progressed and wanted his pistol back, saying no fight occurred and that he agreed to rent a motel room for the night. Officers counseled the man and advised him again about the eviction process.
