Glacier Symphony presents ‘The Nutcracker’

| December 7, 2023 12:00 AM

Glacier Symphony is bringing back the popular holiday event that sold out last year with performances of “The Nutcracker” this weekend.

The San Diego Ballet Company, young local dancers and Glacier Symphony will present a fully staged production of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic at the Wachholz College Center at Flathead Valley Community College.

The local studios involved include Northwest Ballet, Noble Dance, the Academy of the Performing Arts, Turning Pointe, Whitefish School of Ballet, Head Over Heels (Polson), Eureka Community Ballet, Bigfork Dance, and Dance Elements. It is an exciting chance to see “The Nutcracker” performed by a professional ballet company and live symphony orchestra. The musicians and dancers transport the audience to the battles of the Evil Rat King, the Palace of the Sugar Plum Fairy and more wonders in this Christmas fairytale.

Performances are Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. with limited ticket availability. Tickets are sold out for the performance on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.

Attendees are advised to arrive at least an hour before the start of the performance to park and be seated. This is a full concert and the ballet cannot be disrupted once it starts.

Santa is making a special trip from the North Pole to take pictures with families at the photo booth in the lobby.
