TubaChristmas event set for Dec. 18
Kalispell will host a TubaChristmas celebration on Monday, Dec. 18.
The annual event will feature tuba, euphonium and baritone players playing Christmas carols for the public. The performance for the general public will begin at 7 p.m. in the Red Lion Hotel ballroom foyer.
“We have been doing a TubaChristmas celebration in Kalispell for over 27 years,” said director Allen Slater. “And this is an especially important celebration as we celebrate 50 years of this worldwide event. If you have never heard an ensemble like this you are in for a real treat. It will really put that Christmas smile on your face.”
TubaChristmas was established in 1974 by Harvey Phillips to honor his teacher, the world-famous Bill Bell, a tuba player who was born on Christmas Day 1902. The event is held in communities around the world as players gather to share fellowship and play Christmas carols. All TubaChristmas concerts are presented with permission from the Harvey Phillips Foundation Inc.
Any tuba or baritone players are welcome to be a part of the TubaChristmas celebration. Registration for the performers will be at the Red Lion ballroom room from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday. Rehearsal will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. After a break for dinner, the performers will meet at Red Lion ballroom for the performance.
