Eureka wrestlers second at Western B/C Divisional

PABLO — Behind individual champion Timothy Schmidt and six more top-four finishes, the Eureka Lions finished second at the Western B-C Divisional wrestling meet Saturday.

Schmidt edged Three Forks’ Brayden Linville 3-2 to win the 113-pound bracket, but the Wolves were pretty salty, winning four of six title matches while piling up 335 points.

Eureka had 236 points; Whitehall was third at 230.

The Lions had Wes Banks take second and Colyn Johnson fourth at 205 pounds; Riley Hume (285), Caden Pecora (152), Blake Lancaster (113) and Colin Hickman (103) all finished third for Eureka.

Thompson Falls finished 12th with 101.5 points, with Eli Ratliff — the runner-up at state last year at 152 pounds — winning the 160-pound bracket.

Plains-Hot Springs scored 145 points to finish ninth. Leading the way were John Waterbury and Drew Carey, who took first and third at 132 pounds.
