Crown choir concert benefits Samaritan House
The Crown of the Continent Choir invites the community to From the Heart, a free benefit concert for the Samaritan House at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15, at the Samaritan House Administration Building, 1110 Second St. W, Kalispell.
There is no admission charge, instead, the choir welcomes and encourages donations of cash and checks to support the Samaritan House and its efforts to provide housing for homeless veterans. As an added incentive, a member of the crown choir will match all donations received at the door.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for complimentary refreshments and a chance to hear from executive director Chris Krager about the Samaritan House’s campaign to build additional housing for veterans.
From the Heart reflects the spirit of Valentine’s Day with music that celebrates love, peace, and service to others. Among the selections chosen by choir director Craig Naylor is Harry Belafonte’s “Turn the World Around.”
“The song tells us ‘clearly’ that if we know and care about each other, together we can turn the world around,” Naylor said.
Another favorite piece and the Crown Choir’s signature, “One Voice” deftly weaves one lone voice with another and another to unite “every one of us” in song.
The Crown of the Continent Choir is a non-auditioned, non-sectarian singing group whose mission is to share the joy of music and be of service to the community. All Crown Choir concerts are free, with goodwill proceeds donated to charitable causes and organizations around the Flathead Valley. The choir is accompanied by Meghan Hodges. www.crownchoir.org
