Unbeaten Valkyries cruise to 7-B title

EUREKA — Braeden Gunlock scored 13 points to lead a balanced Bigfork offense, and the unbeaten Valkyries coasted past Thompson Falls 51-12 for the District 7-B girls basketball title Saturday.

In the consolation game, Mission beat Eureka 68-37 to claim third place. The top four teams advance to the Western B Divisional next week in Anaconda.

Paeten Gunlock keyed a 14-2 second-quarter Bigfork surge with six points, and the Vals (20-0) led 30-7 at halftime. Scout Nadeau added 11 points for Bigfork.

Avery Burgess scored five to lead Thompson Falls (13-5).

Cora Matt poured in 20 points and two more Lady Bulldogs reached double figures.

Mission got off to a fast start — Matt had 14 points at halftime and Kason Page had eight in the first half as well — and didn’t look back. Page had 12 points and Ellanah Flatlip added 10 for Mission (17-5).

Dylan Sharp led Eureka (7-14) with eight points.
