| February 21, 2023 12:00 AM

Whitefish- Marilynn Margaret Dunn (Fry), a longtime resident of Whitefish, passed away in Kalispell on Feb. 12, 2023, after a long illness.

On July 3, 1953, Marilynn entered this world, born to Lewis and Shirley (Perry) Fry in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was raised in Whitefish and graduated from High School there in 1971. After graduation, she attended nursing school in Great Falls where she also met her future husband, Wayne. In 1975 she moved back to Whitefish, with Wayne following her a year later. Marilynn worked at the Montana Veterans' Home for over a decade, then later transitioned to a career in insurance.

Marilynn endured many hardships throughout her life, most notably beating cancer in her 30s, and the loss of her leg at age 62. She was a fighter though, and always had a positive outlook on life. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and was an amazing cook. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Marilynn loved her family dearly, she always enjoyed watching them participate in sports and other activities. Known as Skeeter to many, she also loved being in the woods and picking huckleberries. She, like her parents, could always find the best patches. Even after the loss of her leg, she would enjoy the activity, and would have Wayne park close to the hillside so she could spot the best bushes for him to pick. When the weather wasn't conducive of being outside, she enjoyed relaxing around the house with family, always cooking or baking, and watching Christmas movies and old Westerns.

Marilynn is preceded in death by both of her parents, and her brother Bill Haverkorn. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Wayne, and their two sons, Shawn (of Spokane), and Matt; her two grandchildren, Sawyer, and Addison (of Spokane); her brother Ralph Haverkorn, sister Cindy Sharp, and numerous extended family members.

Arrangements are entrusted to Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, 1890 Hwy 93 North Kalispell, MT 59901, where services will be held on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. You are encouraged to visit their website to leave notes of condolence.
