Law roundup: Rapscallions in truck harass the public
Five people in a red Ford truck were reportedly bullying and scaring people by yelling and swearing at other drivers and people on the street as the pickup sped along, revving its engine. Someone who called the Kalispell Police Department was advised to stop following the truck. The truck then began following them and honking the horn. The person was advised to drive to the police department, which they did, and the truck took off.
A resident purportedly had issues with a man entering their house saying he lived there. The resident told officers they saw him again near the backdoor. Someone else from the residence said he was sleeping in a shed. He moved along.
An unknown individual allegedly threatened to file an insurance claim against a man who disputed running over a motorcycle with his vehicle. The man also claimed the person contacted his landlord, trying to evict him. An officer explained this was a civil issue, advising him to contact an attorney for help. The man became irate at the officer's response and kept talking over them.
A store manager reportedly tried to wake up a man sleeping on the curb next to the building without success and asked officers to check on his welfare and move him along.
A vehicle was reportedly removed after sitting in a ditch for about two weeks.
A woman allegedly shoplifted items valued at $6 and an employee wanted officers to let her know she could not return to the store.
Someone was suspicious a person was picking a lock and deadbolt in a building’s secondary door and was staying there because they reportedly found the door open more than once. They also found clothing and shoes.
A man’s vehicle allegedly broke down, so he parked it in a store parking lot. When he returned, it was gone and hadn't been towed. The vehicle was a 2000 midnight blue Dodge Durango with tinted windows and new wheels and tires. A gun was also in the vehicle.
A former employee reportedly hadn’t returned a laptop and iPad since October 2022.
Someone was purportedly overwhelmed by the amount of trash left in a park gazebo and asked an officer to go there and make people “tidy up their areas,” and pick up trash. Officers counseled people at the location.
