Ronan boys drop opener in Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Boub Marial led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, and West Anchorage used a big first quarter to down Ronan 65-45 in the boys bracket of the Alaska Airlines Classic Thursday.
Laurance Lozeau scored a game-high 15 points for Ronan, which trailed 26-14 heading to the second quarter. Lozeau hit three 3-pointers and Marlo Tonasket, Jr. hit two on the way to nine points.
The host Eagles, who play in Alaska’s highest classification (4A), hit 12 3-pointers. Manual hit four of them and Willie Zamora hit three.
Ronan fell to 3-6, and plays at 5 p.m. Mountain Friday against either Metlaklata or Grace Christian, who squared off in Thursday’s late game.
