Lady Indians stay unbeaten with win over Wildkats
COLUMBIA FALLS –– Jerel Whitegrass poured in 15 points and the Browning Lady Indians used a strong second half to top the Columbia Falls Wildkats 52-39 and stay unbeaten in Northwest A girls basketball on Friday.
Browning is 10-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Tied 22-all at the half, Browning started to pull away in the third quarter, going up 34-26 on a Whitegrass end-to-end layup. The Indians outscored the Wildkats 18-7 in the third.
Columbia Falls would get no closer than 36-29; Emalee Alton and Demye Rensel hit late free throws to close the gap to 51-39 late.
Taryn Borgen scored 11 points for the Wildkats (7-3, 4-2), Hope McAtee was held to 10. Alton added seven points and 12 rebounds.
Whitegrass hit five of eight free throws and Amari Calfrobe hit four triples for 12 points.
