Unbeaten Lady Indians rout Whitefish

BROWNING — The Browning Lady Indians used a strong performance at the free-throw line to beat Whitefish 54-17 and stay unbeaten Thursday in girls Northwest A basketball.

Browning shot 78 percent at the free-throw line, making 14 of 18 tries. Mecca Bullchild sank all seven of her shots at the stripe, and led the Indians (12-0 overall, 7-0 Northwest A) with 13 points.

Sugar Spoonhunter added nine points, Kalcie Connelly had eight, including two free throws, and Jerel Whitegrass scored seven points, three of those at the charity stripe.

For Whitefish (4-7, 1-5), Bailey Smith scored nine points, Jude Perry four, and Brooke Roberts and Yoli Krastev each added two. All of Perry’s points came at the free throw line.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Hope McAtee scored 17 points, 15 after halftime as Columbia Falls pulled away for a Northwest A victory over the Pirates.

Taryn Borgen added nine points and five assists for the Wildkats (9-4 overall, 4-2 in league); she and McAtee combined for all 17 of Columbia Falls’ third-quarter points, with McAtee scoring 10.

Emalee Alton snared nine rebounds for the Kats, and Julia Barnard led Polson (8-5, 4-2 league) with nine points.
