Wolfpack wrestlers top Sentinel at home
The Glacier wrestling team split a pair of duals in Helena Friday and topped Missoula Sentinel on Saturday at home.
Glacier won 39-25 over Sentinel, with pins from Teegan Vasquez (132), Aiden Chamberlain (170), Colin Keough (205) and decisions from Seth Doolan (145) and Mark Ahner (160).
“That was a good weekend for the Wolfpack,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “Helena High, we did a good job of getting to the positions that we are most successful in and that was the tipping point on a number of matches. It seemed like Capital was on the attack against us in that dual, so that was a good lesson for us. (Today), senior night against Sentinel, we did a good job on top getting to our bars and finding back points when we could. Huge shout out to our 12 seniors that we said farewell to at home tonight. They made a massive impact on our program, and I can’t thank them and their families enough for their work over the years.”
Vasquez got a pair of pins Friday as well, as Glacier beat Helena High 42-34 and lost to Helena Capital 42-21. Ahner, Chamberlain, Colton Vergeront (285) and Niko Coles (152) also got pins against Helena.
“I also want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to the hundreds of alumni, parents, community members, colleagues, and others that have reached out to our student/athletes, coaches, and program with positive and kind words,” Dankers said. “These student athletes have been put through the wringer these last couple weeks, and I am proud of their strength and resilience.”
Butte High did not make the trip to Kalispell, citing poor road conditions.

GIRLS
Sentinel’s girls didn’t field a full team Saturday, and Butte elected not to make the trip due to road conditions, but Glacier coach Ross Dankers is optimistic heading into Western AA divisionals.
“Super bummed that Butte could not make it tonight due to the road,” Dankers said. “But our girls are looking primed and ready for an awesome divisional tournament. They definitely are picking up. A few of the last minute details totally put them over the edge.”

Helena Capital topped Glacier 24-15, but the dual featured Payne-Taylor winning an 18-2 major decision over Capital’s Lola Gonzales, and Mikaela Julius pinning Gonzales at 132.
