Planning board approves subdivision, parking lot

The Kalispell Planning Board approved a major subdivision layout for Pioneer Estates, a proposed 22-lot residential subdivision, at their meeting Tuesday.

Board members voted to approve a request from KLDS Investments LLC, for the 6-acre lot on the south side of Two Mile Drive, west of Greenbriar, and to the east of the U.S. 93 Bypass. The property is zoned R-4, allowing for the construction of single family homes, duplexes and townhomes.

The board also approved a request from Casa Mexico restaurant for a conditional use permit for the construction of a parking lot at their 1741 Airport Road location.

The parking lot, which will primarily front 18th Street East, will feature about 78 parking spaces. The new parking is expected to serve the expansion of the restaurant into a portion of the building to the south.

Both proposals will go before the Kalispell City Council for final approval.
