WHITEFISH — The second doubleheader in two days between the Glacier Twins and Kalispell A Lakers went the Twins’ way Saturday.

A single, a walk and a balk set up a two-run sixth inning for the Twins in the first game, which they won 6-5; Glacier built an 8-2 on the way to winning the nightcap 8-5.

The opener was a heartbreaker for the Lakers (36-16 overall, 10-10 in the West A), who led 5-2 after Braden Capser’s RBI single in the fourth inning.

An error and a Mikey Glass RBI double brought the Twins to 5-4 in the fourth inning; in the sixth AC Chilson walked and Glass singled with none out. Both moved up on a balk, and both scored on consecutive sac flies by Jake McIntyre and Tristan Butts.

Dayne Tu, who came on for Glass and threw four scoreless innings of relief, worked around a single and an error in the seventh for the Twins (24-8, 16-3).

Bryce Buckmaster had two hits and drove in two runs for the Lakers; Luke Nikunen also had a pair of hits.

Glass and Butts hit RBI doubles in the first inning of the second game, helping Glacier to a 4-0 lead. After the Lakers closed to 4-2, Josiah Ruther added an RBI single for the Twins in the third inning. Maddux Muller hit a two-run single in the fifth and Glass added a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Easton Capser and Hunter Fann each hit RBI singles in the sixth for Kalispell, drawing to 8-5. The Lakers brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but got no closer.

Twins pitcher Talon Murphy worked around two hits, six walks and a hit batter in five innings, allowing four runs. He struck out four. Dawson Juntunen threw the last two innings.

Both teams head to the West A district tournament beginning Wednesday in Polson.
