James Ronald Short, 77
James Ronald Short, known to his loved ones as Ron, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, in Kalispell, at the age of 77. Ron was born on Jan. 29, 1946, in Great Falls, to Orley and Margaret Short.
Ron spent his early years in Belt, prior to the family moving to Livingston in 1950. He completed his high school education at Park County High School and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Montana. After completing his studies, Ron ventured to the Bay Area, where he worked as a certified public accountant for 25 years. However, his heart always belonged to Montana, and he eventually returned home.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; his brother, Jerome; his sister-in-law, Charlene; his sisters, Peg and Diane; his step-daughter, Kendra, and step-son-in-law, Anthony; his step-son, Charlie, and step-daughter-in-law, Britney; and his grandchildren, Davin and Easton. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron was a patient, kind and generous man with a great sense of humor. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. Ron was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and cherished his time spent with his fraternity brothers. He had a special fondness for sunsets on Flathead Lake, had a soft spot for animals, and cherished his wife and family.
In his free time Ron enjoyed following Griz Football, playing golf, fishing and traveling. He had an adventurous spirit and loved exploring new places.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Montana Grizzly Scholarship Association. This organization supports aspiring students in their pursuit of education and aligns with Ron's passion for helping others.
Ron will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
