Robert Lewis Cartwright, 91
Robert L. Cartwright, 91, passed away peacefully in his home on July 25, 2023. He was born in Reed Point, on February 21, 1932. He was welcomed into the world by his parents Walter and Lucy Cartwright, and five half-siblings.
He along with his parents moved to Ashley Lake at four years old where he attended Ashley Creek School. During those early years, he spent many evenings peeling logs with his dad to build the family home.
He was introduced to Marilyn Claridge by a friend at Flathead High School. They were married in Kalispell, in 1952.
Prior to marriage, Bob had enlisted in the army.
After being discharged from the military he returned to the Flathead Valley. He was able to purchase property in the West Valley area where he moved his folks to be closer to town.
Some of his occupations included working for the Montana State Highway Department, Skyline Dairy and the Flathead County Fairgrounds.
He was most happy on his hill in West Valley, you could find him logging, cutting Christmas trees, boughs and firewood.
He was proud to call Montana home for 91 years, leaving behind a legacy of six generations.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Julene, Bob (wife Karla) and Kristi; grandchildren, LeeAnn, Tanner, Nicole, Libby (husband Ryan) and Dustin; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Bentley; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lucy; siblings, Ellen, Mary, Betty, Ernest and Bessie; and his grandson, Weston Cartwright.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, July 31, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Glacier Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, with a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, at Adventure Church.
