Big Shindig car show is June 17 in Kalispell

The Glacier Street Rod Association and the Desoto Grill host the Big Shindig car show in downtown Kalispell on Saturday, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., regardless of the weather.

Money raised during the show will benefit Mikayla’s Miracles and Blessings Foundation. The local nonprofit organization helps provide assistance and life-enhancing equipment to parents or spouses of individuals with special needs, as well as families that are less fortunate.

Car show participation fees as well as proceeds from the live actions, silent auctions, raffles and split the pot will benefit the charity. All proceeds stay in the Flathead Valley.

Organizers of the Big Shindig are expecting over 250 cars to be on display this year. There is no pre-registration for participants wishing to show their cars. To participate, just show up that morning and sign in. There is a fee of $20 per vehicle paid on the morning of the event.

After 8 a.m., participants may park their cars in and around 1st Street West between 1st and 3rd avenues as well as in parking lots near the Desoto Grill.

Admission to The Big Shindig is free. One of the festivities will include the infamous Pin-up Polar plunge and there will be live music throughout the day from Flat Black and The Lucitones.

Beer, wine and barbecue meals will be available for purchase. T.L. Slicks Barber Shop and Shave Parlor will be on site and offer haircuts and, additional vendors will also be on site to offer an array of related products and services.

There will be a pre-event on Friday evening, June 16 where car show participants will have preferred parking outside Desoto Grill during the “Kruise Kalispell” on Main Street.
