The bats fell silent for the Kalispell A Lakers Wednesday, and they were swept in a Western A Legion doubleheader by the Cranbrook Bandits at Griffin Field.

The Lakers (24-4 overall, 6-2 in the Western A) managed just seven hits while losing 10-3 and 6-4, though they had the go-ahead run at the plate in the final inning of the second game.

A leadoff walk to Bryce Quinnell, a one-out single by Trever Cockerill, an RBI groundout by Hunter Fann and another single by Braden Capser had the Lakers on the comeback trail, down 6-4. Bandits pitcher Blayke Butler was able to induce a groundout to end the rally..

In the first game the Lakers fanned 12 times against two Bandit pitchers. Cranbrook meanwhile struck out just once and banged out 14 hits, with Butler and Ryan White getting three each.

Luke Nikunen scored two of Kalispell’s runs in the opener.

The A Lakers are home again Sunday, for a doubleheader against the Bitterroot Bucs at 1 p.m. at Griffin.
