Kalispell Planning Board to consider request for additional apartments
The Kalispell Planning Board will consider a request for a new preliminary plat layout on the Stillwater Crossing mixed-use development as the developer looks to add additional apartment units to the project.
The board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, 201 First Ave. E. The meeting can also be attended virtually via Zoom.
The amendment calls for replacing 83 single family lots that were approved as part of the development’s original plan with 24 townhouse units and 120 apartments, in addition to the 192 apartments already approved.
Developer Jason Evans said by email that he made the decision to amend the project because of increasing need for apartments, and that “market conditions don’t seem as favorable for single-family right now.”
The apartment complex’s website shows 96 of the original 192 units are currently available, with one-bedroom units starting at $1,695 and two-bedroom units starting at $2,095.
The remaining three buildings are expected to be completed by August, according to Evans.
The units will include balconies or patios, plus washers and dryers in each unit, and will be pet-friendly. The development offers shared amenities including a clubhouse with an exercise facility, a playground, an outdoor spa hot tub and park areas.
Also included are 106 garages with 8-foot tall doors, “so you can actually park a truck/SUV with skis on top,” said Evans in a 2021 interview.
THE BOARD will also consider a request from Stillwater Corporation for major subdivision approval of the fourth phase of their Kalispell North Town Center project.
The request is for a roughly 12-acre plot within the 485-acre project, and would include 10 commercial lots, a common area, and a new city street.
As a whole, the project includes four zoning designations for single-family and two-family residential homes, as well as commercial development.
