Mysterious, spooky ‘Addams Family’ musical opens in Bigfork
A new musical featuring the well-known characters based on the 1960s television series, “The Addams Family” opens at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse next week.
The ghoulish musical opens on June 21 at 8 p.m. Performances run throughout the summer.
The musical begins with the Addams family visiting the graveyard for an annual gathering of all family members, living dead, and undecided, to celebrate what it is to be an Addams. However, the family encounters an unforeseen obstacle when Wednesday decides to introduce her new “normal” boyfriend Lucas to the family.
Gomez (Jeff Gallup) tries to keep peace in the house, especially with wife, Morticia (Katelynn Fahrer) when daughter, Wednesday (Moriah Bone) announces she has a “normal” boyfriend (Cody Lowandowski). With help from Uncle Fester (Felix Albino), the rest of the zany family and their ghostly ancestors, the Addams family are reminded that love, no matter new or long term, comes with many challenges, dynamics and in even different shapes.
Director Joseph Martinez says he grew up with the television show and with many versions of the iconic Addams Family, hopes to add something new to the characters without losing what people love about this loving family.
Now in its 64th Season, Bigfork Summer Playhouse is also presenting familiar favorites “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Grease” and the new Jimmy Buffet musical “Escape to Margaritaville.”
Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors age 65 and older, and $22 for children age 10 and under.
