Twins, A Lakers each win 2 Thursday

WHITEFISH — Four pitchers combined on 10 shutout innings, and the Glacier Twins swept a Legion baseball doubleheader from Western A foe Libby Thursday, 10-0 and 15-0.

Dayne Tu had three hits and drove in two in the first game for the Twins (6-1). Mikey Glass helped the offense with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Kellen Kroger had two hits and scored twice.

Josiah Ruther had two hits; Tristan Butts scored twice.

On the bump Glass threw two innings, striking out four, and Maddux Miller threw the last three frames, fanning two.

In the second game the Twins took advantage of 15 walks issued by Libby pitching to pile up 15 runs. Glass drew three walks and scored three times; Butts had two of his team’s six hits, including a double; Kroger also hit a double.

Butts and Jake McIntyre also combined on a five hitter. Butts fanned nine in three innings of work and McIntyre struck out three.

Both games ended early under the mercy rule.

Rusty Gillespie and Dylan Buckner had a hit in each game for the Loggers (1-17).

A Lakers win 2 in Bozeman

BOZEMAN — The Kalispell A Lakers twice built big leads and held for wins Thursday, beating the Great Falls Chargers 11-9 and the Bozeman A Bucks 9-8 at the Howard Rein Tournament,\

In the first game the Lakers trailed the Chargers 6-2 before scoring nine straight runs before the Chargers rallied. The contest was shortened to six innings by time.

The Lakers took the lead with a 4-run third inning: Ethan Kim’s bunt single scored Brysen Herion to tie it at 6-6; Hunter Fann’s two-out, 2-run single gave Kalispell the lead for good.

Fann drove in three. Braden Capser had two RBIs and scored three times;

Herion had two hits, including a double, and drove in two.

In the second game the Lakers held leads of 7-1 and 9-2 before Bozeman came back. In fact the Bucks scored four times in the seventh and had the tying run on first before Cale Brink retired the last two batters on a flyout and strikeout.

Luke Nikunen and Brink each allowed four runs, but just one was earned. Nikunen fanned nine in 5 2-3 innings, allowing five hits and four walks.

Fann, Easton Capser and Bryce Buckmaster all had two hits for Kalispell; Fann and Trever Cockerill both hit a double and scored twice.
