Event kicks off fundraising for Samaritan House project

| June 23, 2023 12:00 AM

The Samaritan House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing homelessness and providing affordable housing for homeless families and veterans in the Flathead Valley, will be hosting a New Construction Celebration on June 28, from 5-7 p.m. at MontaVino Winery in downtown Kalispell.

The event, which is sponsored by Park Side Credit Union as part of their 2023 Park Side Partners program, will kick off Samaritan House's fundraising efforts to build new affordable housing units.

"We're excited to celebrate this new chapter in our organization's history," said Chris Krager, Executive Director of The Samaritan House. "With the support of Park Side Credit Union, many other partners and our community, we are proud to provide safe and affordable housing and a ladder up for those who need it most."

The Samaritan House in 2001 announced plans to expand by constructing 45 new apartments at the former Army Reserve Armory in Kalispell.

Krager explains that 44% of the organization's clients arrive due to an unforeseen financial event and 22% because of domestic violence situations. Eighty-four percent of Samaritan House residents are no longer homeless when leaving the transitional housing program.

"They are doing great things in our community and we're proud to support Samaritan House," said Josh Kroll, vice president of marketing at Park Side Credit Union. "We believe the power of partnerships serve as a multiplier to make a positive impact, and we're excited to be a part of this important community project."

The Building Stability celebration will feature food and drink, the launch of a new Partner Edition limited-release wine, as well as a chance to learn more about Samaritan House's mission and the new housing units they plan to build.

Meet and greet with key project leaders including Chris Krager, former residents of Samaritan House, project architects and representatives from Park Side Credit Union.

The event is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to RSVP by June 26 to receive a free drink ticket via text to Julie Davison at 406-885-2506.
