Law roundup: Mailbox, not fireworks, explodes

| June 28, 2023 12:00 AM

A man told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office he thought he heard fireworks going off during the night but was wrong and claimed the commotion was caused by someone blowing up a mailbox.

A man reportedly walked around a building checking the doors, stole a key out of an excavator and sprayed a fire extinguisher into an unlocked car in Kalispell.

A woman allegedly found a missing cat at a Kalispell location where there were dogs that she thought appeared abused and neglected.

An older Chihuahua with a gray face was found on Montana 82 and dropped off at an animal clinic.

A Kalispell property owner reportedly found a fence kicked in and told deputies it was the second time it had happened at the location.

A man reportedly hopped over a woman’s fence and tried to enter her house by crawling through the doggy door despite being told to leave. He reportedly got inside by jumping through a bedroom window and chased her until she called 911.

Neighbors were concerned a man was on drugs when he allegedly came outside screaming, and ran up to a woman’s car, telling her to call the cops. Columbia Falls Police Department made contact with the man who was “just acting out.”

A woman was upset that her parents, who were also her landlords, were reportedly going through her house without providing 24-hour notices. She alleged her mother was also making appointments at her place of work to stare at her and leave things at her station in addition to incidents occurring at her child’s daycare. She told an officer that she spoke to her parents about not wanting a relationship until they went to family counseling. An officer recommended she apply for a temporary restraining order since the alleged incidents happened at multiple locations.

A cooler reportedly containing “J” shaped metal items was found in tall grass.
