Scouts present Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards
Northwest District Montana Council Boy Scouts of America recently hosted an Investment in Character and Leadership breakfast fundraising and silent auction event at the Red Lion which included the Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards.
Funds raised help support various programs to advance scouting skills and leadership growth for just under 300 scouts and adult scout leaders in Northwest Montana. Funds also help sustain two flagship camps in the Flathead Valley; Grizzly Base Camp just north of Bigfork, and Melita Island in flathead lake. These two venues are the destination of over 1,000 scouts each year.
The Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards recognizes people and organizations that contribute immeasurably to the community just as Tom Sliter did.
This year Andrew Sliter presented the Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards to representatives of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety grant program.
The keynote speaker for the event was Joe Unterreiner, who serves as vice president and business development officer at Glacier Bank.
Local scout packs (5-10 years of age), troops (11-18), sea scout ship, and venture crew (14-20) for boys and girls are active and growing. For more information including how to join, go to www.beascout.org.
