Samuel Leo Brandt, 73

| March 1, 2023 12:00 AM

Our loving son, brother, dad, Samuel Leo Brandt passed away suddenly on Feb. 23, 2023 at home at age 73. He leaves behind so many broken hearts, but we still have the treasured memories that hopefully will fill the void.

Sammy was born on grandma and grandpa's farm prematurely in Henley, Missouri to Margaret and Leo Brandt on July 7, 1949. He weighed only 2 pounds and had quite a struggle, but grandma Hazel nursed him along to be a healthy baby and they always remained extremely close.

Our family moved to Montana in 1967 and that is where he met the love and everlasting best friend of his life, Yvonne, they would marry and begin the making of their own family.

Sammy's career spanned from logging, heavy equipment operator, to his current and favorite job of all Spencer & Co., and took enormous pride in working for his niece Paula.

Sammy is survived by his parents, Leo and Margaret Brandt; children, Sammy Jr., Jamie (Theresa), Wendy (Jim), Daniel; siblings, Donna Spencer, Ronnie (Kathy) Brandt, Debbie (Ron) Kraus, Theresa (Boot) Eickert, Carla Brandt, Randy (Thelma) Brandt, Barbie (Jerry) Lipp, Patsy Stinger (Kevin), grand and great-grandchildren; aunt Emily Combs, and a long list of cousins and good friends.

Slammin' Sammy #31 loved racing stock cars and was proudly the final winner of the main event at the Big Sky Speedway before it closed. He was Dale Earnhardt's #1 fan, enjoyed snow catting, vintage cars (of course because he was a Brandt), and his pontoon boat. Of course, his most notable accomplishment was being our son, brother, father, and best friend who always reached out a lending a helping and supporting hand.

Services will be held on March 2, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with final resting place at Glacier Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to extend our utmost appreciation to Chaplain Michelle of Braveheart Ministry along with the first responders who helped us at a very difficult time. If you care to give a donation in Sammy's honor, Braveheart Ministry would be most deserving so they can continue to help others.

Sammy, we love you to the moon and back forever and ever. God has chosen well, and your dog Peanut eagerly awaited you. ‘Til we meet again, we love you.
