Barbara Hinsz, 82

Barbara Jean Hinsz of Columbia Falls crossed over March 20, 2023. She was born Dec. 27, 1940 in Akeley, Minn., to the late Wayne LeRoy Mathews and Myrtle Edna Perleberg (Batteen).

Barbara was a kind, generous, and nurturing matriarch. She worked and retired from the Montana State Veterans Home as an accountant. Some things she enjoyed were traveling, gardening, bowling, crosswords, puzzles, and camping. Barbara loved Elvis and would play him on the car stereo and especially during the Christmas holiday. At all the family gatherings at “the folks,” Barb made her peanut brittle, relish trays, and cookies, which were followed by games and fun.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ellan “Al” Hinsz; son, Brian D. Hinsz; granddaughter, Bryanne Hinsz; great-grandson, Bryson Brittsan; sister, Florence Burkhardt; and brother, Rick Perleberg. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by step-father, Albert Perleberg; and brother, Wayne “Butch” Mathews, Jr.

A celebration of Barbara Jean Hinsz’s 82 years of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 27 at Columbia Mortuary, 1010 4th Avenue West, Columbia Falls, MT 59912. Family and friends may begin to visit on Monday starting at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2200 9th Street West, Columbia Falls, MT 59912.
