State announces roadwork in Marion, Whitefish
The Montana Department of Transportation, in partnership with LHC Incorporated, announced Monday upcoming roadwork projects in Marion and Whitefish.
Near Marion, crews will be widening the shoulder, grading, and adding guardrail and rumble strips throughout the area. This same work will take place in Whitefish, northwest of Twin Bridges Road.
Work is scheduled to begin in late March or early April, and will last a few months, weather dependent.
“Small safety improvement projects like this are important to keep our roads in good condition,” said Bob Vosen, Montana Department of Transportation District Administrator, in a statement.
The goal of this work is to improve roadway safety on both routes. Simultaneous construction in two locations allows the Department of Transportation to allocate equipment, team members and budget more efficiently.
Throughout construction, motorists can anticipate traffic delays of up to 15 minutes. Crews will direct traffic with signals, flaggers and pilot cars.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding as work approaches; our goal is to keep delays as minimal as possible,” said Sam Weyers of LHC, a Flathead Valley based construction firm.
