‘The Continuum Tales’ explore weird, futuristic and haunted worlds
In the spirit of “The Twilight Zone” and “Black Mirror,” the Wolfpack Theatre Company’s Advanced Acting Ensemble presents “The Continuum Tales” May 8 and May 10 at Glacier High School.
A collection of eight short plays exploring weird, futuristic and haunting worlds — eerily similar to our own — “The Continuum Tales” is filled with strange and humorous tales of technology gone wrong, nightmares of the mind, and what happens when we let our fears get the best of us.
“Being a series of vignettes, the show is really about a lot of things from the commodification of love, to the loss of sanity by a prisoner, to an annoying pimple,” student director and GHS senior, Mac Adkins said. “But overall, it’s really about the dangers of censorship and authoritative government. Anyone who enjoys sci-fi, psychological horror, think pieces, comedy, or just good theater should come.”
The tales told in the production include: “The Results,” “The Rescue,” “The Birthday,” “The Gift,” “The Pimple,” “The Happy,” “The Proposal,” and “The End.”
The cast, which is composed of 14 seniors and four underclassmen, has spent this semester in the Advanced Acting Ensemble capstone theater class under the direction of GHS teacher Greg Adkins.
“It really is something special to see so many seniors near the end of their run just giving everything to these 10- to 12-minute snapshots,” Mac Adkins said.
The class teaches student actors the discipline required of an actor and gives them the opportunity to take a play from the selection process to the final curtain call to produce a student-led production.
The cast includes Isabella AuClaire, Gabrielle Cantrell-Musson, Ellie Fiala, Venice Frechette, Fiona Fuller, Kiya Hendershott, Kaelin Holt, Erik Kalvig, Maeve Kintzler, Lane McKoy, Annabeth O'Shea, Kailie Owens, Elise Pitts, Elise Plum, Leslie Plum, Braden Wakefield and Dustin Wolcott.
The technical crew is made up of Bella AuClaire, Kiya Hendershot, Fiona Fuller, Lane McKoy, Alden Lamson, Elle Plum, Zaden Stout, Isabelle McKoy, Drew Crane, Calvin Casey and Haley Hill.
Performances are set for 6:33 p.m. May 8 and at 2 p.m. May 10 in the Wolfpack Theatre.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $6 for children, students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased online at https://gofan.co, at Photo Video Plus and at the door.
