Kalispell's Fifth Avenue WN closed again for water main work
The ongoing redevelopment of Kalispell’s historic grain silos property into apartments and a restaurant has once again closed a busy stretch of Fifth Avenue West North for what municipal officials describe as the second phase of an “emergency water main relocation.”
Kalispell’s Public Works Department expects the work, which has closed the avenue between Railroad and Center streets, to wrap up by Friday. It had previously been closed for the same project from April 4 to about April 21.
The location of the apartment complex’s sewer main has created the need to move the water main, said Joe Schrader of the Public Works Department.
The relocation is necessary to comply with Montana Department of Environmental Quality standards, according to a previous interview with Public Works Department Director Susie Turner.
